Overview
Al-Janoub Stadium, formerly known as Al-Wakrah Stadium, is a retractable-roof football stadium located in Al-Wakrah, Qatar, that was inaugurated on May 16, 2019. This was the second of the eight stadiums inaugurated for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Al Janoub Stadium was the first new stadium completed for the tournament and now serves as the home of Al Wakrah Sports Club. Its energy-efficient design, sustainable systems, and adaptable structure make it a symbol of Qatar’s commitment to innovation, culture, and future-ready infrastructure.
